Hate speech fact sheet released by the Press Unit at the European Court of Human Rights In this fact sheet, provided by the Press Unit at the European Court of Human Rights, the approaches used by the Court to regulate hate speech related cases are showed and explained.

Some cases are summed up in order to provide an overview of the possible scenarios the Court has already faced. For what concerns the diffusion of hate speech online, through platforms or portals it states: “Internet news portals which, for commercial and professional purposes, provide a platform for user-generated comments assume the ‘duties and responsibilities’ associated with freedom of expression in accordance with Article 10 § 2 of the Convention where users disseminate hate speech or comments amounting to direct incitement to violence.” http://www.echr.coe.int/Documents/FS_Hate_speech_ENG.pdf
